“Live-In” service is a term describing assistance provided on a 24 hour basis. Most people utilizing this service need help every day, and prefer this option because an aide is available at all times. This service is appropriate for those who typically sleep through the night since state law requires that the caregiver is able to get 8 hours of sleep, 5 of which occur in one block and also have a private, separate sleeping area. Typically, in such a case, two or more aides would share the assignment, one relieving the other after 3 or 4 days.
